If you’ve been injured in an accident or at work, chances are you’ve come across the term “No Win, No Fee.”
But what does it really mean?
Is it too good to be true?
And what should you watch out for?
At Revolution Law, we want to break it down clearly—without the fine print and without the legal jargon.
So, What Is No Win, No Fee?
No win, no fee means exactly what it says:
You don’t pay us anything unless we win your case.
It means we take on your claim at our own financial risk. You don’t pay upfront.
You don’t pay along the way and you only pay legal fees if you receive a settlement at the end.
If the claim isn’t successful—you pay nothing.
When do I pay my legal fees and how much will the be?
If your case is successful, legal fees are taken from your settlement at the very end.
Legal fees are capped by QLD Law at 50 percent so no matter how small your settlement is, a lawyer can only charge at a maximum 50 percent.
Hypothetical Super Unlikely Scenario :
A compensation payout of $15000.00 is achieve. Lawyer has conducted 22,000k in work but lawyer can only charge $7500k.
We would run at a loss if these were the settlements we obtained for our clients, but it’s important to understand that these caps protect you if you have a small claim.
If your lawyer achieves a massive settlement, it is not the cap that matters.
You won’t be automatically charged 50 percent of your claim. We take time recordings of the work we complete on your matter to achieve that settlement, and we will only charge you for has been done.
What really counts here is, the hourly rate of the lawyer and the experience.
Our Lawyers are effective at what they do, and importantly, we have not changed our hourly rate in 8 years!
Why Does the Lawyer Need to Get Paid?
We know people can feel awkward talking about legal fees, but here’s the honest reality, running a personal injury law firm is incredibly expensive.
We can only provide this service if we can pay our team, pay our overheads and cover the very expensive cost of running a claim.
We carry all the costs, upfront and you get access to a full legal team, expert advice, and all necessary evidence and reports paid for without paying anything until your claim is finalised.
How do we charge for disbursements?
Disbursements are not legal fees, they are out-of-pocket expenses that support your case—things like:
- Independent Medical Examinations (IME reports)
- Vocational assessments
- Specialist reports or records
At Revolution Law, we pay all your disbursements upfront and only recover those costs from your final compensation if your case is successful.
Some law firms outsource this to legal finance companies—which can charge you interest. We never do that. We manage everything in-house, with no interest and no hidden finance costs.
Also, if we don’t obtain a successful settlement, we won’t charge you the disbursements. You truly will walk away, with nothing to pay us.
Do We Charge an Uplift Fee?
We do not charge uplift fees for any WorkCover, CTP or Medical negligence matter.
An uplift fee is an extra charge which can be an additional 25% on top of your legal fees. Firms charge this because they fee like they are owed the bonus by taking on the risk.
We believe in simple, fair, transparent pricing—without the hidden extras.
Medicare, WorkCover and Centrelink – What Happens There?
If Medicare, Centrelink or WorkCover paid for your treatment or income support during your recovery, they may be entitled to recover some of those costs from your settlement. This is a standard part of the process.
It’s important to understand :
- These repayments are not legal fees
- We’ll work with you to calculate these amounts before your claim is finalised
- We always explain what your real, take-home compensation will be
Why We Offer No Win, No Fee
We offer No Win, No Fee because we believe everyone deserves a fair go—regardless of their financial situation. We take on the legal risk so you don’t have to.
We front the costs and wait for years until your claim is resolved and your injury has reached its best level of recovery.
We do this because we know how important the outcome is to your future.
